A couple of weeks ago, we wrote to ask for your help in teaching children their times tables. Below are the main areas to focus for each year group, but Year 4 is the really big year when children tested on knowing up to their 12 times tables inside out. For the next few weeks, please concentrate on 4 and 8 times tables and still recapping on 3 and 6 so not to forget the last couple of weeks work.

Practice at home will certainly help and we can see which children have been putting in the extra work. Take any opportunity you can to help your children whether it's while walking to school, driving to the shop, bath time or while making the tea. Times tables are perfect for on the go learning and you'd be brushing up on your own mental maths too!

Year 1 Count in multiples of 2, 5 and 10. Recall and use doubles of all numbers to 10 and corresponding halves.
Year 2 Recall and use multiplication and division facts for the 2, 5 and 10 multiplication tables.
Year 3 Recall and use multiplication and division facts for the 3, 4 and 8 multiplication tables.
Year 4 Recall multiplication and division facts for multiplication tables up to 12 x 12. For the next couple of weeks, please concentrate on revising the 3 and 6 times tables inside out.
Year 5 Revision of all times tables and division facts up to 12 x 12.
Year 6 Revision of all times tables and division facts up to 12 x 12.
