School Visits and Enhanced Learning Experiences
Educational visits form an important part of our curriculum as we firmly believe that children learn best when engaged in first-hand encounters. In between educational visits children can also take part in many learning experiences in our state-of-the-art 4D learning room which uses odours, visual and interactive learning.
Visits are organised to comply with relevant guidelines and procedures. Some educational experiences cannot take place without the cost of such visits being funded by parents. Such contributions are voluntary, and parents will be informed of the cost to each child should a visit be planned.
Each visit/activity will only take place if sufficient voluntary contributions are received to enable us to fund it. The school does subside educations visits and every effort is made to keep the cost to a minimum. If the shortfall on voluntary contributions is so great that the visit/activity cannot proceed, all monies will be returned to parents. Parental permission is always sought before taking children from the school premises for educational visits.
We pride ourselves on being able to give children the opportunity to experience different adventures experiences and outings.

Year 6 - Trip to Crucial Crew - 21st November 2023
We have arranged for the Year 6 children to visit The Lifewise Centre at Hellaby on Tuesday 21st November to experience The Crucial Crew. We normally ask for a small contribution for visits, but on this occasion, we will cover the total cost, in the hope to have your support when we do ask for financial assistance.
Crucial Crew is a multi-agency experiential learning environment, which involves all the emergency services, along with other agencies. They provide Year 6 children with the knowledge and skills to cope with the dangers around them through practical experience in the form of short scenarios. In the fire safety scenario children are introduced into a bedroom. They are taught how to deal with the discovery of a fire in their home and then they have to deal with the situation on their own.
On the day of the visit, children should come to school wearing their school uniforms and a warm coat via their cloakroom doors for 8.20am for registration as the coach will leave at 8.30am prompt. They will return to school for approximately 3.10/3.15pm. Children will need to be in full school uniform with a warm coat and sensible footwear. They should bring a packed lunch or pre-order a grab, chargeable at £2.66 unless entitled to free school meals.
Year 6 - Trip to National Coal Mining Museum - 13th December 2023
As part of our upcoming History in the local area project, Year 6 are visiting the National Coal Mining Museum to take part in workshops and an exciting underground tour on Wednesday 13th December 2023.
On the day of their visit, children should come to school through the cloakroom doors at 08.30am for early registration. Children will need to be in full school uniform with sensible footwear and a suitable coat. We will travel to the Coal mining museum by Coach with Globe coaches.
The children should be back in school at approximately 3.15pm.
We are asking for a voluntary contribution towards the trip of £15 per child to cover the coach travel and entry fees, to be paid via school gateway.
FS2 - Trip to Yorkshire Wildlife Park - 11th March 2024
We are planning an exciting educational trip to Yorkshire Wildlife Park, Yorkshire. The trip is sure to be a fun and exciting adventure for all our children.
The visit will take place on; Monday 11th March 2024
On the day of their visit, children should come to school through the cloakroom doors at 08.40am for normal registration. The children should be back in school at approx. 3.10pm depending on traffic.
We are asking for a voluntary contribution towards the trip of £15 per child to cover the coach travel and entry fees, to be paid via school gateway. This can be paid in instalments of £5 at a time if needed until the due date on the 8th March 2024.
Year 5 - Trip to Lyceum Theatre, Sheffield - 11th March 2024
We are planning an exciting trip to the Lyceum Theatre in Sheffield to see The Boy at the Back of the Class. This is a book the children will be reading in class over the coming weeks so it will be wonderful for them to see it come to life on stage. It is a beautiful, open-hearted story from Onjali Q Raúf that should help children be the best they can be and realise the power of kindness.
On the day of their visit, children should come to school early for an 08.30am registration for a prompt 08.50am departure. Children will need to be in full school uniform with sensible footwear and a suitable coat. Children will be back at school in time to eat a slightly later lunch in school.
We are asking for a contribution towards the trip of £15 per child to cover the coach travel and entry fees, to be paid via School Gateway. This can be paid in instalments of £5 at a time if needed until the due date on the 5th March 2024.
Nursery - Trip to Cannon Hall Farm - 12th March 2024
We are pleased to announce that we have organised for the nursery children along with their chosen adult, to visit the Cannon Hall Farm on Tuesday 12th March. Full of exciting things to do including a guided tour of the farm where the children will get a chance to feed the animals as well as the opportunity to have fun and play in the impressive adventure playground.
The trip will just be for the Foundation Stage 1 children who must be accompanied by an adult. The cost of the visit is £15.00 in total for one adult and one child. This must be paid via School gateway. Please look out for an email inviting you to sign up if you haven’t already done so. The £15.00 can be paid as separate payments to allow you to pay in instalments (eg. you could pay £5 Jan, Feb and March). The trip must be paid in full by the 8th March.
You would need to arrive at school by 8.30am and will get back at approximately 3.00pm.
Please note that FS1/Nursery will be closed this day.
Year 6 - Kingswood Residential - 18th March to 20th March 2024
We are delighted to be able to offer your child the exciting opportunity of a three day (two night) residential trip to Kingswood Centre at the Peake Venture site. This trip is open to children in Year 6.
The total cost of the visit is £130.00 which includes return travel by coach, full board accommodation and a full programme of activities.
Educationally and socially the trip proves enjoyable and very worthwhile.
We have chosen the "Adventure" programme which is designed to meet our chosen learning outcomes of Resilience, Self-confidence and Team work and we have selected to include activities in the Get active and In the air categories which are suitable for children in Year 6. With action, energy and challenges at every turn, our pure adventure programme encourages team building and physical exercise. This programme offers a wide range of exhilarating activities.
- The closing date for the non-refundable deposit of £50.00 is Monday 2nd October.
- A second instalment of a further £40.00 is to be paid by Friday 1st December
- A final payment of £40.00 by Friday 19th January 2024
