Intimate Care10 February 2026 (by David Lovatt (d.lovatt)) |
Dear Parents/Carers,
We are currently in the process of aligning our school policies with those of Waterton now we are part of their Academy Trust. As part of this we have a new Intimate Care Policy, this can be accessed on the website if you would like to read it.
As part of this process we need to renew permissions given by parents for adults in school to provide any intimate care your child may need. Therefore, your child will be coming home with a form this week, it is vitally important that you fill this in and hand it back to us. Even if your child does not need regular changes we still need this form back incase they are ill and have an accident in school. If you have not filled in this form and your child requires intimate care school will not be able to provide this and you will be contacted to come and change your child yourself.
As always we promote independence in children and expect you as parents to be promoting independence in toileting at home too. Developmentally children are expected to be toilet trained by the time they start school Nursery and Reception, therefore it is the responsibility of parents to toilet train their child and we expect most children to start school already toilet trained. If your child is not yet toilet trained we will work alongside you to support you in this process. You can also find lots of useful information around toileting on the ERIC website https://eric.org.uk/potty-training/
If your child still requires frequent changing in school your child's class teacher will be speaking to you soon about an Intimate Care Plan that you will need sign and return to us.
If you have any questions as always please come and speak to us.
