Thank you to everyone who shared their thoughts on our recent attendance policy rewards.

We appreciate that views on these incentives can be mixed, and while a few parents have shared negative feedback, we have been pleased to receive a great deal of positive feedback as well - especially from the children. We are currently trialling these new incentives which include rewards every half term to provide six opportunities across the year for children to succeed and we will review their effectiveness in the future. These regular resets ensure that every child has a fresh start and a new chance to earn a reward every few weeks. From feedback, we have removed the Friday afternoon playground song for weekly 100 percenters. We are listening, but we do have to trial the policy, which has rewards which were influenced by the children.

Beyond these rewards, there are many practical ways you can support your child’s attendance. Setting a steady bedtime routine, setting out clean uniform and packing bags the night before can take the stress out of your morning rush. To keep everyone feeling their best, a bit of extra handwashing goes a long way, and you can always check the NHS "Is my child too ill for school?" guide if you're ever unsure about a sniffle. We also really appreciate it when appointments are booked during the holidays or after school hours to keep their learning on track.

Most importantly, staying positive about school and chatting about their day helps them feel excited to walk through the doors.
