Dear Parents/Carers,

We would like to make you aware that some of the children in Year 5 appear to have created a group WhatsApp chat outside of school. While we understand that children enjoy communicating with their friends, we would like to remind families that messaging groups can sometimes lead to misunderstandings or inappropriate messages being shared.

We kindly ask parents and carers to monitor their child’s use of WhatsApp and other messaging apps, ensuring that conversations remain kind, respectful and appropriate. Please also remind children about the importance of online safety, respectful communication, and not sharing personal information or messages that could upset others.

Group chats can sometimes escalate quickly, particularly when many children are involved, so your support in keeping an eye on messages and discussing safe online behaviour with your child is greatly appreciated.

If any concerns arise from online communication that may affect school relationships or wellbeing, please do let the school know so that we can support the children appropriately.
